“Sundays with Beatrice” presents a deceptively warm portrait of an elderly woman recounting her Sunday routine. Beatrice describes her rituals with affectionate detail: tea brewed properly, church in the morning, and leisurely stops at the greengrocer, pub, bookshop, and pottery store. She then returns home to tend her beloved roses, though her neighbour Harold’s constant “advice” on pruning became an unbearable intrusion. With a calm smile, Beatrice casually reveals that one Sunday she struck him with a spade. ending his meddling forever. The shocking confession contrasts with her gentle delivery.
